I know I'm way late posting this but things are coming together at our house. We are slowly getting into a routine, naps are getting a little better, bedtime is starting to get a little easier so Mike and I are able to stay up a little later and have our time. So... time to start updating the blog.

Way back... Taylee's Baptism. Taylee was baptised at St. Francis and was lucky to have Auntie Andi and Uncle Matt as her Godparents.

Big Boy Bed

I was afraid of Cayden climbing out of his crib... because all he does now is climb! So we moved him to a big boy bed. He was pretty excited for the camera, putting it together, and even laying down. However the SECOND the light turned off he burst into tears! It was pretty cute. So Daddy layed with him and since then it's been ok. Not perfect- but ok.

Taylee has arrived! (I'm really late posting this update but there has been very little time to catch up...). I was planning on being induced on Friday, November 13th at 5am but at 5:00 pm on Thursday night Taylee let us know it was on her terms. I had a few contractions but nothing regular. At 6:00pm I was having them every 10-14 minutes with an occasional 6 minute little one. I called the hospital a few times but they told me to wait until they were 6-7 minutes. Finally at 6:50, when they got to be pretty intense but not regular and still far apart I called and asked if I could come in and they said sure, I called mom- told her not to hurry but to come soon. By 7:15 I had had two that were 7 minutes apart, mom had arrived, and we were on our way. At the top of the bridge (7:25 on my phone) we called the hospital to tell them we were on our way and they were every 2-3 minutes and to please have an epidural ready... Mike turned the hazzards on and put the pedal to the floor. We pulled into the Emergency door and they wheeled me upstairs. Nobody realized how serious I was until I was checked just a few minutes later and was at a 6+. The nurse barely got the IV needle in my hand, Dr. Sabastian almost didn't make it and I delivered Taylee Anne Manion at 8:12pm on November 12th (Auntie Leah's Birthday!). I remember the nurse telling me I was probably ready to push and I said "there isn't any doctors here?!" She told me "I've delivered babies before!" It was very exciting and we're both (mike and I) glad it's over. I think it's noteworthy... NO DRUGS! Feeling like a champion!

Cayden has learned so many words and sounds in the last month. He can recognize when a truck is driving by and says "truck", a motorcycle and says "cycle", and busses- all without being able to see the vehicle. He loves dump trucks, bulldozers, back hoes, and front loaders too. We got a book from a friend of ours that he sits and reads all the time and then just recently there was a construction project less than a block from our house that we have been to visit. One day we walked there in our hats, mittens, and winter jackets and he sat in my lap for at least 20 minutes watching them at work. It was pretty awesome. Here are a few sounds that he knows- words to follow in a day or too... you will all be amazed!

I took one final hurrah vacation by myself over the Labor Day weekend (how appropriate?) before we have Baby Manion #2. I went and stayed with Andi, Matt, and the Kids. While I was gone Cayden played for 5 days with his Daddy! They went to the aquarium, the cabin, and some super secret places they only know! Here are some highlights...

In the last month Cayden has been talking up a storm. Uncle Matt asked if we had any of it on camera which made me realize we didn't. Here's a start... I will update this again because I wasn't ready for him to cooperate as much as he did and couldn't think of the words fast enough!

We had a first today! It wasn't the glamorous "let's teach Cayden about the potty..." it just sort of happened but we'll take it! He didn't get scared and thought the whole ordeal was pretty cool. It started in the tub... and we'll just leave it at that!

Daddy has been patiently waiting this day. He has talked about bringing Cayden to the zoo for a long time and today was the perfect day! The weather was great, Cayden did great, there was not a ton of people and so we all had a great time.

We've had enough with Great Clips. They take way too long and I think Cayden realized it's more of a girl place than a dude place so we decided to try a real Barber. Steve was great! There are lot's of animals on the camoflag (sp?) wall, hunting, fishing, and outdoors magazines, and best of all only guys (other than the mommy) come in.

We finally got the bike trailor up and running, the flag, and a helmet that fits his head! He loved it and we will definitely be at it again tomorrow!

We are so close to the halfway point! I was feeling really good about my belly this time compared to "what I remembered" it to look like last time. Bummer... pretty much the same. However I have only gained 12-14lbs (depending on the day) this time around and last time I was up to 30... so it is much better this time. I think there's a difference in the "bump" which secures my intuition that this little baby is most likely a girl!

Nama got Cayden a new pool for his birthday. For awhile we thought we might have to set it up in the living room in order to be able to use it this year! However, the weather in Superior for the week has been mid 80's so we are taking advantage of the pool and Cayden is loving it! He was playing in the pool one day while Daddy was working on the landscaping and helped out every now and then. Then there was one time we had him fully dressed, it was in the evening, and I thought he was going to splash around... he squatted down and crawled right over the side on his belly! Of course... I couldn't get to my camera quick enough but got the aftermath... yes- there's water in the pool!

Although most of us have wondered if summer will ever come... we have taken advantage of all the nice days we've had so far. Cayden loves the wagon, his water table, spending time at the cabin, and just today- his sandbox FILLED WITH SAND! (Sorry... it's crooked- I keep forgetting that the computer won't turn it!)

Cayden has developed a great friendship with Abby. By the end of any length of time together Abby tries to hide from Cayden because she is worn out. It's pretty cute to watch and we're VERY glad Papa and Nama have a dog so we don't have to! This video is so quick but sooo cute!

Daddy turned 31 on June 3rd. We did a quick birthday party during his lunch break with blizzard... of course Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and then had the Manions over for the "must have Manion birthday cake-" Angel Food cake with homemade chocolate frosting!

Before the birthday party Sydney and Saul got to come and stay with us for a week while their mom and dad went and found a house in New York. We had lots of fun- here are just a few highlights! Saul had something in his eye so we made a patch which turned into something that everyone needed! We went to the Firestation and got a tour of a fire truck and where they eat and sleep, and then the last pic was Saul... just being Saul. Although Cayden's not in any pics... he was along for the fun!

We had Cayden's FIRST Easter today! We started with some yummy lunch at Auntie Cheri and Uncle Terry's followed by some... yummy lunch (yes... MORE yummy lunch!) at Grandma Mary Jo's and Papa Johns. Happy Easter!

We went to Washington DC with Grandma Mary Jo to visit Uncle Michael, Auntie Amanda, and Kuma. It also happened to be peak Cherry Blossom time so we saw that and also a lot of DC's attractions including the Smithsonian of American History where we saw Abe Lincoln's hat, the Ruby Slippers from Wizard of Oz, some of the First ladies gowns, and the 30 x 42 foot American flag that flew over Fort McHenry that inspired the Star Spangled Banner. We also saw many of the National Monuments including the Lincoln, Washington, WW11, Vietnam War Memorials, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetary... YES- it was action packed but so much fun! We also got to celebrate Aunties 31st birthday with a cookout and egg decorating (thanks Uncle Michael!). Enjoy the pics... you should go too!

On Saturday Papa got married! He and Theresa got married giving us a new "Grammy" and 4 new Aunties! Mommy took video but didn't realize it was going to show crooked like this- it's quick so just bare with us. Also, she tried to get both of them saying their vows to one another but her memory card was full so she got Papa saying his vows, them walking their mom's down the aisle and then "the Kiss" and INTRODUCTION... Today Cayden and I got to hang out with Kailey- his new Auntie and my new sister. She is in town visiting her mom for a few more days and we were happy when she agreed to spend the day with us. We went shopping and searched all over and were finally able to find the perfect sweatshirt! She clearly hasn't been here an entire Midwest winter...

We finished our Christmas season at Grandma Lloydean's with the Olson side of the family. Lynn flew in from New York (?), Sarah made it- finally, and Becs didn't have to work either. We played Screw your neighbor- a very family friendly game; and Uncle Larry won the pot! He and Cayden get along great! The best part was that Papa showed up in his new Christmas sweater... and so did Mike!

We came home from the Manion morning and opened our Christmas presents from Santa! Cayden got a Rocking Horse, the Polar Coaster, a telephone, alligator, and boring clothes. Shortly after the newlyweds, Kris and Leslie Weiby showed up to visit for a little while.

After Christmas Eve morning with Papa we went to 4:00 Mass followed by a light snack celebrating Christmas with the Burm family. Finishing up our Christmas Eve with the ENTIRE Manion family at Grandma Manions. Christmas MORNING we opened presents with Grandma and Grandpa and all the Manion Aunties and Uncles, Conor, Annabel, and Johnny.

After recovering from the Un Christmas we moved right in to Christmas Eve. This started with a brunch joined by Papa, Theresa, Melissa, and Kailee. We had ate egg bake, monkey bread and fruit... and of course- got presents... More Merry Christmas to us!!!

We had our "First Annual Un-Christmas" at Nama's house on December 20th. It was unlike any Christmas we've had but definitely will be done again next year!!! We strung popcorn and cranberries and hung them on the.... Sephalara plant. We made bread and ate homemade pizza for dinner. Cayden got some bath toys from Auntie Andi and both Aunties and Uncles sent us an Ergo! Cayden got a new pair of baby legs that are not helping the crawling situation but he likes them and Nama is buying him his first bike... or hotwheel... or trike! Summer can't be here soon enough!

Such a big boy now! Although he's still backward facing it was time to get him out of the "infant" seat (he's far from an infant you know!) and into the big boy chair. We took a trip to the fire station to make sure everything was good and tight. He met his new friend Suzi who also gave us a tour. I sat (yeah, mommy- not Cayden) I got to sit in the fire truck and we learned lots about what they do and how they react to all fires so quickly. Thanks Suzi!

We got Cayden's first Christmas tree tonight! It's weird shaped and has funny branches sticking out but it is perfect for our family. Here's some of the "getting the tree..." Cayden got to put the first ball on and new exactly what to do!

While Daddy went to Nate's wedding in Illinois we went to Auntie's in Seattle. We got to be the last ones to hang out with Auntie Andi, Syndey and Saul before Uncle Matt came home from his LAST patrol! We went to gymnastics, pre school, swimming and most importantly RED ROBBIN! The kids got along great with "Tayden" (the cutest thing EVER!) and Cayden adjusted well to everything... well almost. The car rides with Syd and Saul staring at him and playing wasn't well accepted- but with a little bribery we managed. Enjoy!

We went to the pumpkin patch and corn maze in Ashland, WI. The weather was perfect. We picked out our very first family pumpkin... Cayden even picked one of his own!
